“First the mind must be healed. Second, the body must be made sound. If the mind is healthy, conforming to a path of integrity, then the body becomes sturdy of its own accord.”
Reiki was developed in the middle of the 19th century by Mikao Usui (1865-1926).
Dr. Usui pursued a personal quest that ultimately led to epiphanies about the way energy promotes healing. He used his reiki techniques to heal people, and taught them to students who would carry on the practice.
Derived from the Japanese words for spirit (rei) and energy (ki), Reiki is a non-invasive technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. An alternative therapy that can be done with hands-on or remotely, Reiki involves visualization techniques to connect to the energies within and around the body.
It has a healing effect that can be conducted in a defined way for specific ailments or in a general way to achieve the general harmonization of our being. Reiki is a completely natural method used with the intention of regaining and maintaining health.
Reiki is a system that teaches us to recognize the power that we have within us and that helps us modify, improve and enhance our energy with the purpose of improving and harmonizing our general health.
Reiki is very simple and natural, it does not require any type of equipment or tools, nor does it require a special place or environment. Reiki is used personally and to treat others. Applied to oneself, Reiki is a very effective tool for releasing tension, reducing stress and promoting relaxation. Helps eliminate toxins and energy blockages resulting from negative emotions.
In Reiki the whole body is treated, not only what we know as the physical body but also the energy field. Reiki works with the process of energy circulation to increase, restore and harmonize the general well-being of the person.
While it involves a spiritual frame of mind, Reiki is not affiliated with any religion.
To learn Reiki it is not necessary to have any previous training or instruction in any area of health or natural healing methods. You only need your will and your determination to practice healing first on yourself and then , if you choose, on others.
The practice has been embraced globally, well beyond its beginnings in Japan. Now, it’s practiced in hundreds of hospitals around the world, and many RNs routinely combine Reiki into their nursing work. Healthcare professionals believe Reiki helps patients heal faster, with less pain. It helps patients keep a better mental attitude, and reduces the negative effects of medication and other medical procedures.
Through meditation, visualization techniques, and the power of human touch, Reiki accesses the body’s energies, and their relationship to the universal energy of life.
We are more than just a mind and a physical body – We are universal energy .
